In an interview with TheWrap, former FBI agent Greg Stejskal, who was engaged in the UNABOM investigation, accused the show’s writers of turning “a small member” of the FBI investigative team “into the star player who won the game,” alluding to Jim Fitzgerald’s depiction on the show.
Fitzgerald claims that he never met Kaczynski, that he was not in Lincoln, Montana, at the time of his arrest (despite the fact that the show does not show Fitzgerald in Lincoln at the time of Kaczynski’s arrest), that he was not involved in the search for Kaczynski’s cabin, and that he never interviewed him.
